Bind-pose with even segments for easier rigging - then variation is added with the rig.
just a silly idea, could not help it... they see me rolling..
with geo-nodes I can easily add sand on surfaces and along hair curves with a single setup.

Random idea I had while drawing. I fused a centipede, a pangolin and a poodle moth. Thought it could be cute and creepy, also a great rigging exercise. This was also a nice opportunity to try out the new Blender hair.
